Oats & Rice is the brand founded in 2015 by designer Shiyi, who immerse herself in the traditional textile world with overflowing curiosity and passion.

At the Kawashima Textile School in Kyoto, Shiyi studied the kasuri (ikat) weaving technique amd she also trained under the watchful eye of a Japanese shifu weaving master, learning the craft of making shifu – a fabric woven from washi paper cut into fine strips, twisted into thread, and then woven like yarn. Her textile journey later took her to Inner Mongolia, where she envisioned the sustainable cashmere supply chain the brand use today.

Oats & Rice‘s creations don’t have to come at the planet’s expense: by choosing organic cashmere, the brand support farming practices that protect the land, respect the animals, and avoid harmful chemicals.

This allows to create beauty and quality in all the products without depleting the environment we all rely on.

Oats & Rice è il marchio fondato nel 2015 dalla designer Shiyi, che si è immersa nel mondo tessile tradizionale con una curiosità e una passione traboccanti.

Alla Kawashima Textile School di Kyoto, Shiyi ha studiato la tecnica di tessitura kasuri (ikat) e si è formata sotto l’occhio vigile di un maestro di tessitura shifu giapponese, apprendendo l’arte di realizzare lo shifu, un tessuto intessuto con carta washi tagliata in strisce sottili, intrecciata in filo e poi intrecciata come un filato. Il suo viaggio nel settore tessile l’ha poi portata nella Mongolia Interna, dove ha immaginato la filiera sostenibile del cashmere che il marchio utilizza oggi.

Le creazioni di Oats & Rice non devono essere realizzate a spese del pianeta: scegliendo cashmere biologico, il marchio sostiene pratiche agricole che proteggono il territorio, rispettano gli animali ed evitano l’uso di sostanze chimiche nocive.

Questo permette di creare bellezza e qualità in tutti i prodotti senza impoverire l’ambiente da cui tutti dipendiamo.
